Understand Racism
Racism is a continuing reality in our national life – a reality that the American public recognizes and grapples with to varying degrees. We believe that faith communities have a special calling and capacity to engage in this civic reckoning, given our histories and the deep well of beliefs which across traditions highlight love of neighbor and the call for justice. Such a faithful reckoning is an essential step on this journey toward racial justice and healing.

Interwoven Congregations works with faith communities -- individually, in pairs or in groups – to examine the history of racism in the United States and how it continues to be manifested in society today. Understanding racism can take place through congregational “anti-racism audits;” the study of select resources (texts, podcasts, films and other media); small group discussions; special presentations; visits to civil rights sites, museums and other cultural offerings; and more.
Racial reckoning can be challenging, sobering, and at times painful. But it can also be empowering and liberating as we gain clarity about what has been, what is, and what can be. Contact us if you would like to join the Interwoven Congregations network and be an agent for racial justice and healing.
